2013 Summer Teacher Institute

The Confucius Institute will host its annual Summer Teacher Institute for local Chinese teachers on July 20-21 on Emory campus. The Summer Institute will be conducted by two master teachers, Cao Xianwen and Yang Xueli, from the CI’s partner institution Nanjing University’s Institute for International Students. Professor Cao Xianwen and Professor Yang Xueli specialize in Teaching of Chinese to Foreign Speakers and offer regular courses to undergraduate and graduate students seeking degrees in Teaching of Chinese to Foreign Speakers.  

Topics featured in this year’s summer institute include practical skills and effective strategies for teaching different types of students, lesson planning, how to teach Chinese characters, current theories in Chinese language education and Chinese folk craft of cross stitch embroidery. Those complete the two day training will get one Continuing Education Unit awarded by Emory University Continuing Education($50 processing fee required).

The Summer Institute is free and open to all Chinese teachers and those interested in becoming Chinese teachers. Registration is required. To register online:
